Dear Friends of Lititz Springs Park: As most of you are aware, the Lititz Springs Park is a private park for public use, owned by the Lititz Moravian Congregation. The park grounds were turned over to the community of Lititz through a 'Declaration of Trust' in 1956. This placed the management and operation of the park in the hands of a Board of Trustees comprised of representatives of various local churches and several members-at-large. In addition to maintaining the Park, the Welcome Center and Lititz Memorial Square are also maintenance responsibilities. The major fund raiser for the Park is the July 4th celebration. As a multifaceted community, the observance of Independence Day has been, since 1818, the most significant public occasion that has annually brought countless people to the Lititz Springs Park. This year marks the 192nd celebration with the theme “An Old Fashioned Fourth of July, Lititz 2009.” The Park is a non-profit organization and is not supported by tax revenues. The Park is maintained by numerous volunteers, monetary contributions, rental of Park facilities, the annual antique show and the famous Fourth of July celebration. The Park relies heavily on generous giving of citizens like you and organizations and churches of the community. Your contribution will not only assist with continuous maintenance of the Park and facilities, but will help with the expenses for the Fourth of July celebration. Over the past several years revenue has been down from the July 4th celebration due to inclement weather. The Park which is a beautiful centerpiece to Lititz is once again faced with needed capital improvements; a deteriorating log cabin built in 1927, the cement steps on either side of the head-end basin are crumbling, roofing and painting of buildings, tree maintenance and replacement, and the arch bridge near the refreshment stand, built in early 1800’s, is also deteriorating. The Board realizes that financially these are difficult days, however, any contribution you might be able to donate will be appreciated to help maintain the park for now and future generations. To generations of community residents, the Lititz Springs Park has always been an important place to gather. With its incomparable beauty and its scenic serenity, the Lititz Springs Park is certainly a community legacy. It is a place of gala celebration and family gathering and individual quietude.
